The Stellate Foundation, located in the heart of Europe, strives to treat sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through minimally invasive outpatient medical therapies and lifestyle optimization. For those suffering from PTSD or similar disorders, we're here to help get you back on your feet so that you can live your best life. PTSD and its associated syndromes (e.g., anxiety, chronic pain, etc.) are treatable afflictions which often exist concomitantly - though they require an individually-tailored, multimodal approach to achieve maximum therapeutic efficacy.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a condition that can develop after you’ve gone through a deeply distressing, alarming or terrifying experience - either in personal or professional life. Be it military personnel, first responders, health care professionals, victims of tragedy, or people who are living with intensive stress on a regular basis, a large portion of society is at significant risk for developing PTSD - a fact that has been confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO). Basically, it’s your mind and body reacting to experiences that were so overwhelming, you may still feel anxiety or that you’re in danger, even when you're not (i.e., an inappropriate activation of the "fight or flight response"). Hallmarks of PTSD are often one's reliving the trauma in their head, avoiding people, places, conversations, or situations that trigger memories of the trauma, negative changes in thoughts and mood, emotional numbing and hyperarousal. PTSD often leads to lost productivity, lost relationships, substance abuse, loss of self-esteem and ultimately lost quality of life. But because PTSD is actually a natural (albeit disruptive) stress response to experiencing or witnessing traumatic events, it is often a treatable condition, and with the right care and support, recovery is possible.
The stellate ganglion block (SGB) is an innovative and effective treatment that offers new hope for those struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This simple, outpatient procedure involves a targeted injection near a bundle of nerves in the neck called the stellate ganglion, which helps regulate the body’s “fight or flight” response. By calming this overactive system, the SGB can quickly reduce symptoms like anxiety, hypervigilance, and sleep disturbances. Many patients report feeling relief within minutes to days, allowing them to better engage in therapy and reclaim a sense of control in their daily lives. These positive effects are individual and can last from weeks to months. SGB is a safe, science-backed option that empowers individuals on their path to healing.
Ketanest, a form of ketamine, is emerging as a promising and fast-acting therapy for individuals struggling with PTSD. Originally used as an anaesthetic with excellent pain-relieving properties, Ketanest/ketamin has shown the ability to rapidly reduce symptoms of trauma-related distress by targeting glutamate pathways in the brain - offering relief where traditional treatments may fall short or take weeks to take effect. Studies and clinical experiences show that Ketanest can help “reset” dysfunctional brain circuits involved in fear and memory, making it easier for patients to engage in therapy and reclaim stability. Ketanest treatment is performed in our clinic, on an outpatient basis, and represents a potential breakthrough for those seeking new and effective options for PTSD treatment.
Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) of the upper extremities and neck is a complex and often debilitating condition characterized by severe, persistent pain that typically affects one or both limbs following an injury, surgery, or even a minor trauma. The pain is usually out of proportion to the initial event and may be accompanied by other symptoms, such as swelling, skin color changes, temperature variations, and abnormal sweating in the affected area. CRPS can lead to significant disability if not managed effectively, and its exact cause is not fully understood, though it involves abnormal responses in the nervous system. The stellate ganglion block aims to relieve pain in CRPS by interrupting the abnormal nerve signals that contribute to the pain and other symptoms in the affected limb. The stellate ganglion block can be both diagnostic (to confirm the involvement of the sympathetic nervous system in CRPS) and therapeutic, potentially providing immediate, temporary or even long-term relief from symptoms.
Long COVID is a condition where symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath, and anxiety persist for weeks or months after the initial COVID-19 infection has cleared. It has also been postulated that long COVID could even be due to a reaction to the COVID vaccine itself. For many, these lingering effects disrupt daily life and resist conventional treatments. The stellate ganglion block (SGB), a simple injection that calms part of the sympathetic nervous system, has shown promise in relieving long COVID symptoms. By helping to reset the body’s fight-or-flight response, SGB can reduce inflammation, improve cognitive clarity, and restore balance—offering hope and relief to those still struggling with post-COVID complications.
